So you want to curl up in the fetal position and cry because of the weight of the world that is upon you? Go ahead and do it… for a day! Then get up the next day and start doing something to better your position in life. I visited with Kim a while back when her hair had just fallen out due to a bout of Breast Cancer. She was stoic and brave as she wore her baldness. She wanted others to know that she was going through a tough time but that she wasn’t going to let it get her down. Slightly a year after her surgery she is Cancer Free and happy to be on the planet. The entire ordeal has given her a sense of calm as she realized that everything will be here tomorrow, and that the small stuff is just that small stuff. Her sickness has forced her to surround herself with good people and then to trust them to outwork her vision. By empowering and delegating she has forced herself to quit being a control freak and let go. The cancer was just the luck of the draw and she got that short stick but so many good things have come out of it that she feels fortunate to have gone through it.
Many of you may remember the front cover of the Century City News, where Kim wore her baldness so well. Detection of her cancer all came from a hot flash that brought her into a doctor’s office and that doctor wanted to look further. But chaos gave way to this sense of calm that has propelled her business to new heights. Michel Financial Group now has 80 sales people that occupy four offices for a combined 33,000 square feet of office space. The economy being off has created opportunities in business for a very stable and steady Mass Mutual office. This is a great time to retrench and prepare for the inevitable return of prosperity. Michel Financial’s sales are only slightly off from the previous year but given the expansion the next year Michael Financial is poised for a record year.
When other businesses are scaling back Michel Financial is hiring. They are looking for a few good men and women to share in their coming record breaking year. If you want to be part of new growth opportunities then this just may be the place for you. They have four convenient locations: Century City, Woodland Hills, Costa Mesa and Korea Town.
When others are singing the blues Kim is out taking advantage of the deals that a slowdown has provided. In addition to her business responsibilities, Kim is raising a five and eight year old. When the baldness gave way to a new crop of hair it grew back curly. Now Kim adds the wash and wear feature of her hair to the many blessings that have come as a result of a short straw. That is the philosophy of Kimberly Michel. She says, “we all have stuff - how we deal with that stuff determines who we really are.” Kim credits her success to her great assistant, her staff and her very busy Blackberry. Her two favorite charities are Easter Seals, and the Santa Monica branch of the YWCA.
